  1. First phase

    The surface of the disc cracks, the nucleus moves away from the center, the annulus fibrosus loses its elasticity. Osteophytes limit mobility and increase the surface area of the vertebrae, so the load is distributed more evenly. The roots of the spine are affected, which causes back pain to intensify and spread along the ribs. The X-ray shows osteophytes and a sharp reduction of the intervertebral space.

  4. Fourth stage

    At this stage, the back hurts strongly and continuously. Posture changes and it is difficult for a person to perform normal actions. The psycho-emotional sphere suffers. An X-ray shows a deformed spine.
